Unlike in the case of conventional upholstery where foam is encased in fabric to provide comfort, the 25.0 bench by Omer Arbel for Bocci eliminates the foam from the equation and compensates by providing a vast excess of fabric, which is allowed to fold and¬† pleat haphazardly, creating a comfortable seat and back, but also interesting organic patterns over time. The Web chair by Jun Hashimoto of Junio Design, weighing only 2.1kg, is light enough to be lifted by pretty much anyone using just one hand. Lamps these days. You can kick them, twist them, and¬† now you can’t knock them over. The Mushroom lamp by an Australian designer, Nick Rennie of happy finish design, has a weighted base that always gets it back in its original upright position. It’s cute, too.
