Carysfort Road residence by ODOS architects
ODOS architects have recently completed a refurbishment and an extension to a cottage in Dalkey, Ireland.

This mid-terrace house in Ireland has been extensively refurbished into a contemporary live/work space.

The new structure was conceived as a simple form which connects at ground level with the existing house. The tight site and strict planning constraints defined the form of the new extension from an early stage.

In order to stop the new addition being visible above the roof line of the house, the new extension is partially sunken.

The ground floor rear elevation is completely open to provide a full height glazed connection to the courtyard.

Above this new living space is an office mezzanine with a glazed south-facing wall, providing clerestory lighting to the ground floor.

Black terrazzo flooring has been used throughout, which contrasts with the white walls and ceilings.[via]

Contained highly aesthetic value in all designs. The first photo really edifies more viewers as the house location is at main/secondary road frontage. Very simple but edifying, the main thing not costly as we can use ‘cosmetic painting’ method.
Cool stuff! this really looks great. the only downside is the very small backyard, but I guess there was no space left after expanding the cottage.
Wow that must be totally surprising when you enter the house!!
