Red House by JVA Architects
The Red House by Jarmund/Vigsnæs AS Architects MNAL (JVA) is a building where the colour reflects the temperament of the client.

Located in Oslo, Norway, this 175 meter square building cannot help but stand out from its environment. This is both the case in the snows of winter and the green of the summer season.

The building was placed perpendicular to the nearby river, which dramatically crosses one side of the valley. The parental part of the house is situated on the top floor and is orientated towards the wide southern view. The children’s area is on the lower floor and faces the river underneath the trees towards the north.

This double orientation is the basis for the dynamism of the project and the design is based around the focus on enhancing this theme.

The interior is a stark contrast to the exterior, with only a subtle reminder of the red paint visible from the balcony. The large glass windows help to frame pictures of the surrounding landscape.
