SIDM09: The big finale: Moroso, M’afrique
You knew it was coming.
“Our intention is to showcase the creativity of a few of the great artists and exponents of contemporary African culture, because looking at Africa through the eyes of contemporary art, photography, architecture and design is perhaps the most appropriate way of approaching this vast, powerful continent, so creatively rich and diverse that today it is still one of western modernity’s greatest sources of inspiration”, explains Patrizia Moroso.
The exhibition in Moroso’s showroom featuring the works of Fathi Hassan, Soly Ciss√©, Mand√©mory, David Adjaye, Bibi Seck and¬† Ayse Birsel, was designed by Stephen Burks. But, what we really came for in the first place were the new works by Patricia Urquiola and Philippe Bestenheider. And it’s not their new African inspired designs created specially for this occasion that made us stay in Via Pontaccio so long. It’s the iconic Moroso products, such as Urquiola’s Antibodi, wrapped in the colors of Africa!
