PLOD (“fruit”) is a built-in wall lamp designed by a young Belgrade native, Srdjan Mandic in cooperation with Galerija 12+. After the light is switched on, the bulbs start growing and appearing from within the wall. Once switched off, the spheres return to their original shape. Optone Waft is one of the four lamp prototypes (the other three are Coila, Spinner and Flaska) designed by Tsutomu Mutoh and exhibited for the very first time here in Milan, at Salone Satellite. Due to various reasons, our movement has been slightly chaotic during the last couple of days. The good news is, we got a chance to visit Salone Satellite and take a look at what the young talents have to offer this year in Milan. Dematerialization, recyclability, reduction of toxic emissions and durability – the pillars of eco-sustainable design. Valcucine comes to SIDM this year with the first kitchen in the world made completely out of (recycled) aluminum and glass that respects all of the aforementioned rules. No glues of any kind are used to put Valcucine’s Invitrum together; every joint is completely mechanical and easy to dismantle. More photos after the jump. (more…)
Arik Ben Simhon showed off with his new collection in Zona Tortona’s Superstudio Piu. The collection draws inspiration mostly from sports such as hockey, boxing, skateboarding and a bit of bodybuilding (tubular stainless steel details). (more…)
